Smock Alley is a bit different from other English vineyards. Owned by the Lavery family since 2014, we are run as a community enterprise with the support of a cooperative of local workers.

Each member of the cooperative is as passionate about creating an exceptional sparkling wine as Sarah, our founder and inspiration behind the project. 

We have a tiny plot of land – just 2 hectares – in West Chiltington, near Storrington, West Sussex, on a South facing slope to the North of the South Downs. It is a rich Lower Greensand loam, ideal soil for growing our Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes. Our wine is produced by the renowned Wiston Estate Winery using traditional methods – a minimum 3 year process including the second fermentation in the bottle.

The combination of teamwork and passion for the vineyard and the product makes this a very special sparkling wine.
