By joining the WiM Association, Ruffino becomes one of the leading wine companies that supports the efforts made at the international and national level and sets the example with its leadership in social responsibility. Ruffino will work in close collaboration with the national WiM coordinators and the WiM Association and play a critical role in the Wine in Moderation Programme.
Already greatly committed to sharing the culture of wine, its history, and traditions; and the responsible and moderate consumption of wine, Ruffino will further strengthen its moderation messages by launching responsible actions and incorporating the Wine in Moderation message and logo in its communication.
CEO of Ruffino, Sandro Sartor, mentioned: “As Italians, we strongly believe in the need to share this culture of millennia which we hold very dear in Italy, a country of conviviality where wine has always represented a cultural way to elevate people with the pleasure of staying together, rejecting the fruition for self-isolating through the excesses. With this vision, we have created and executed a wide programme of sustainability and wine education, “Ruffino Cares”. It is not unwanted that the vision under “Ruffino Cares” is also essential in crafting and defining the brand positioning “Vivere di Gusto”: In our activities, we aim to recreate atmospheres that tell the magic of filling beauty with flavours and humanity, with wine always playing a pivotal role. Yet always in moderation and responsibly. Following this approach, this brand philosophy, the adhesion to Wine in Moderation comes as to say naturally and consequently, since we share the same sustainability vision, the same alphabet. We are very proud and honoured to have found such a valuable and authoritative organisation to partner with, able to echo and further define our language.”
Nadia Frittella, Secretary-General of the WiM Association, also commented: “We are extremely happy to welcome Ruffino in the Wine in Moderation family. By becoming an Ambassador Company, Ruffino will participate in a tangible and visible corporate social responsibility programme reinforcing its leadership in social responsibility in the wine category. We look very much forward to working together with the goal to inform and educate both professionals and consumers”.

ABOUT US
Wine in Moderation is the programme created by the wine sector to inspire active respect for wine as a product of culture among people who choose to drink, thereby contributing to healthy lifestyles and the reduction of alcohol-related harm. The programme builds on scientific evidence, education, and self-regulation to organise and empower wine professionals with the information and tools to responsibly present wine, raising awareness and knowledge about responsible drinking patterns and moderate wine consumption and inspiring consumers to enjoy wine and its culture in a healthy, positive and convivial way. Centrally coordinated, Wine in Moderation is implemented nationally respecting local cultural diversity.
The WiM Association is the international not for profit association founded by wine sector associations and leading wine companies to centrally coordinate the Wine in Moderation Programme and expand its reach and impact throughout the world.
Ruffino, founded in 1877 in Pontassieve, near Florence, is synonymous with the history of wine in Tuscany. Great Tuscan classics, wines like Chianti Classico Riserva Ducale, Riserva Ducale Oro, Chianti Ruffino and Brunello di Montalcino Greppone Mazzi, have always been at the heart of Ruffino’s production. At the same time, the willingness to take on new challenges has resulted in the creation of striking Supertuscans, including the award-winning Modus, and the launch of innovative and young wines like the Aqua di Venus range. At the end of 2011, Ruffino was acquired by Constellation Brands, the #1 wine company in the United States, marking an exciting new chapter in Ruffino’s history. A focus on sustainability plays a central role in the company strategy. With the acquisition of two Veneto estates for the production of Prosecco in 2018, Ruffino embarked on an organic transition, which will see all the company’s vineyard become organically managed within a few years. Today, Ruffino is firmly rooted in Tuscany, while always embracing the complex challenges of the global market. Distributed in almost 90 countries worldwide, Ruffino wines are proud ambassadors of the Italian lifestyle and good taste.
