Jean Bouchard Winery took home ‘Winery of the Year’ at the 2019 London Wine Competition. Mercurey Rouge 2015 by Jean Bouchard also grabbed three special category awards, namely, ‘Best Wine by Value’, ‘Best in Show by Country (France)’ and ‘Best Wine by Varietal (Pinot Noir)’. Judged on the basis of Quality, Packaging, and Value by a panel of wine experts, Jean Bouchard reigned in the competition.
Mercurey Rouge 2015 is a 100% Pinot Noir made in stainless steel tanks with 20% thermoregulation to preserve the fresh and fruity characteristics of the grape. On the first nose, this beautiful ruby red wine has a blend of stone fruits such as black cherry, and a touch of spice with nutmeg and black pepper. Mercurey Rouge 2015 is said to be delicately grilled on the mouth with its tannic structure and gourmet finesse.

The winemaker recommends Mercury Rouge 2015 to be paired with an entrecote Bearnaise beef sauce, lamb either braised or in sauce, and chicken stewed with prunes or stir-fried turkey with paprika. On the cheese platter, this wine is said to pair best with both a Brillat-Savarin and a County 12 months.
Currently established in Beaune, France, Jean Bouchard is a Burgundy house that runs on four moral pillars - family, quality, durability, and sharing. Originally, the Jean Bouchard winery was located in Bordeaux. In 1926, the Bichot family began a relationship with the house of Jean Bouchard. In 1955, the Bichot family acquired the Bouchard house and made Jean Bouchard the head of the company. The Burgundy house was renovated in the early 2000s, expanding its Burgundy wine offers at the time with an extension of partnerships and a goal towards larger wine distribution.
The winery produces an array of wines within 5 ranges: Chablis, Côte De Nuits, Côte De Beaune, Côte Chalonnaise, Maconnais, and Burgundy AOC.
Jean Bouchard Winery benefits from the Bichot family’s five estates spread across the Burgundy region, namely, one estate in Chablis (65 hectares), two estates in Nuits-Saint-Georges (16 hectares), one estate in Pommard (17 hectares) and one estate in Mercurey (4.5 hectares).
