Five Awards for Cape Barren Wines at a Wine Competition

Australian winery Cape Barren Wines won five awards at the 2018 London Wine Competition

Wines at the Cape Barren Wines are produced from vineyards that are hand selected for their exceptional quality and consistency. The red wines are produced from vines of the renowned McLaren Vale region. Produced from vines older than 45 years, the wines have supreme concentration and complexity. The McLaren Vale is located on a picturesque and undulating terrain and its maritime climate makes it one of the finest grape growing regions in the world.

At the 2018 March edition of the London Wine Competition, wines from Cape Barren Wines had a great showing as it won a total of five awards at the competition. The award winning wines from the Cape Barren Wines were:

Cape Barren WinesOld Vine Shiraz: This wine was scored 91 points by the judges and won a gold medal. A dark purple-crimson colored wine, the Old Vine Shiraz has a complex array of ripe black fruits, poached plum, and chocolate intertwined with high quality French oak nuances.  

Native Goose GSM: This wine scored a silver medal with an overall score of 81 points. The palate for the Native Goose GSM is medium bodied with red and dark berry fruits forming the base with structured layers of spiciness and coconut.

Native Goose Chardonnay: This wine scored a bronze medal with an overall score of 74 points. The wine has a vibrant green colour with fresh attractiveness and at the nose it has hints of grapefruit, pineapple, cashew and lime juice.

Native Goose Shiraz: With an overall score of 71 points, this wine was awarded a bronze medal. A 100% shiraz, this contains vines aged for a period of 45-70 years.

Funky Goose Gruner Veltliner: This wine also scored a bronze medal with a score of 70 points. A 100% Gruner Veltliner, this contains vines aged for 9 years and has a pale but attractive bright green hue.
