Here’s a refined version of the texts:
Quinta do Sampayo spans a vast 90-hectare estate, with 55 hectares dedicated to vineyards and 11 to olive groves. The vineyard features meticulously selected grape varieties, perfectly suited to the local terroir, including Touriga Nacional, Aragonez, Trincadeira, Castelão, Syrah, and Alicante Bouschet for reds, and Arinto and Fernão Pires for whites. The olive grove is home to over a thousand ancient Galician olive trees.
In our aging cellar, hundreds of French and American oak barrels are carefully utilized to enhance the wines' flavor and aromatic complexity, adding both longevity and a distinctive depth. This meticulous process underlines Quinta do Sampayo's commitment to excellence across all aspects of production.
Owned by the Agroseber Group since 1995, Quinta do Sampayo is located in the Cartaxo municipality, within the Union of Parishes of Cartaxo and Vale da Pinta, less than an hour from Lisbon.
The estate's historical roots trace back to 1718, with continuous wine production since then. In June 1860, King Pedro V granted the title of 1st Viscount of Cartaxo to Luíz Teixeira de Sampayo, who maintained the estate's winemaking tradition. Under the Viscount's stewardship, Quinta do Sampayo produced small quantities of wine of exceptional quality, already being bottled and labeled in that era.
The estate was even mentioned by Almeida Garrett in his 1843 work “Viagens na Minha Terra,” where he described his impressions during a visit to Quinta do Sampayo and the house of Luíz Sampayo.
