Scea Vignobles Denis Barraud

France

The estate has been family owned since it was first created at the end of the 19th Century. Denis Barraud ' grandfather, Pierre-Henri Descrambe enlarged it and he passed on to him his love for the vine. Denis Barraud managed the estate from 1971 to 2023. Since Denis Barraud's death in early 2023, Franck Canal-Descudé, his nephew and partner for over 30 years, has taken charge of the estate.

The estate now consists of 36 hectares (89 acres) :

- 7 (17 acres) in appellation Saint-Emilion, where excellent terroir and low yield give complex dense wines with very gentle tannins :

l            Saint-émilion Grand Cru Château Les Gravières, production about 35 000 bottles

l            Saint-émilion Grand Cru Lynsolence, production 12 000 about bottles

- 29 hectares (72 acres) in appellation Bordeaux Supérieur, where an excellent terroir near St Emilion gives us wines of great finesse :

l            Bordeaux Supérieur Château de la Cour d’Argent, production 140 000 about bottles

You can only make good wine if you have meticulously looked after the vines so that they give good grapes. We take great pains over our viticultural methods to obtain perfectly ripe grapes. We then vinify in such a way as to let these ripe healthy grapes express themselves and in so doing, perfectly reflect our wonderful terroir.

Respectful of the terroir, the estate has been AREA (Agriculture Respectueuse l'Environnement de Nouvelle-Aquitaine) and HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementale) certified for 6 years.
