The property is located in the Municipality of Radda, in Siena Province, one of Chianti Classico’s most sought-after areas. The historic vineyards, which were just over 25 hectares, have all been progressively replaced since 1990 when the property passed to Castellani family, which now has 33 ha in total.

Our concept is to let the “terroir” speak for itself so that the most of Radda’s character comes out which is freshness, sapidity, elegance and slenderness. We are fortunate to work with various soil types such as Macigno, composed of arenaceous rocks stratified with Galestro,  Pietraforte formation, which has very rocky soils rich in limestone and Alberese and finally the Sillano formation, a deeper type of soil rich in calcareous marl and Galestro shale. The ability to work with three different types of soil gives us the ability to interpret the terroir and Sangiovese consistently across different vintages.

Family Castellani has another winery in the province of Pisa - Tenuta di Montefoscoli. The climate, influenced both by the sea and the mountains, combined with limestone, sandy, and marly soils, creates an exceptional terroir.
This terroir expresses itself through gastronomic and structured white wines, primarily made from Vermentino, and feminine, seductive Sangioveses, with a common thread of salinity. In the vineyard, the focus is on preserving biodiversity and the expression of the various plots using organic farming. In the cellar, the approach is traditional: complexity is sought through infusion and long maceration of the skins for red wines or extended periods on the lees for whites.
