La Cricca is the story of an encounter, between The Winefathers and winemaker Giacomo Orlando. An encounter that happened by chance, or perhaps marked by fate. There are Luca C. and Luca L. that, after the launch and development of the portal The Winefathers, are looking for a new idea. And then there is Giacomo, who feels the same need to create something new. Giacomo is a talented technician, capable of producing wines of excellence, but he wants to share his project with someone. Later on Paolo, winelover and founder of the wine club at Lauzacco - joins the group - or the “cricca”, as we call it.

Strengthened by our different experiences, and in love with our territory and its values, we began with small steps: a few bottles, all numbered, representing the best expressions of our land.

Our wines are produced in Craoretto, a small village close to Prepotto, in Friuli. It is a border land: between the Colli Orientali and the Collio, Italy and Slovenia, the wind of the Alps and the breeze of the Adriatic Sea. For us, it is a magical place, where our dream was born and we bring it forward.

Our Wines

The first white wine is a powerful but agile Friulano that pairs with appetizers, soups, risotto with fish, grilled white meat and cheese, also seasoned ones. The first nose is intense: apple, white peach, almond which makes the variety pleasantly recognizable. Same correspondence in the mouth, mineral and fruity, good balance and persistence, characterizing bitterness.

The second white wine is a Pinot Bianco. The colour is bright straw yellow, the nose is intense, fruity, with hints of spices. The taste is elegant but structured, balanced, salty and persistent. Suggested pairings? Excellent with carpaccio of tuna fish with rucola and parmesan cheese, risotto with crustaceans, bread gnocchi with speck, fish, white meats, cheese even seasoned ones.

The third white wine is the Busart, a blend of Friulano, Pinot Bianco and Sauvignon. The colour is an elegant straw yellow. Hints of grapefruit, and cinnamon-like sweet spices with a fresh sage nod at the nose, the taste is fresh, structured but pleasant to drink. It is excellent with linguine with fish, risotto with crustaceans, first and second courses of fish also elaborated ones, cheese.

The red branded La Cricca is Icarus. It is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, a contemporary and international wine, structured but agile and versatile, excellent with tasty cold cuts such as soppressa, first and second meat courses, tasty vegetarian dishes such as melanzane alla parmigiana, medium and long-aged cheeses. Red fruits such as currants and raspberries alternating with notes of undergrowth are clearly recognized, followed by spicy hints including cloves, finally a hint of licorice and balsamic notes such as eucalyptus. In the mouth, it is structured, harmonious, with a clear savory vein that closes with long and warm cocoa and spices notes.
