Krsma Estates is a Boutique winery and vineyard located on the rolling Hampi Hills, near the world Heritage site of Hampi in Karnataka, India. The Vineyard consists of 160 acres of land, out of which only 30 acres is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc. The rest of the land is used of rain harvesting, and a forest for offsetting the carbon footprint due to purchased bottles and a few other packing materials. The vineyard and winery are fulling powered by solar power, which is also used for charging electric tractors. No fertilisers or chemicals are used nor any fossil fuelled vehicles are allowed inside the vineyard. As of today the produce from here has a near zero carbon foot print.
Krsma produces about 3000m cases of all the varietals and does not plan to have an aggressive growth. Krsma was established in 2009 by Uma Chigurupati and Krishna Chigurupati, who are the founders of Granules India Ltd, a pharmaceutical company supplying medicines to more than 100 countries. Their ambition is to see an Indian wine among the top wines of the world and every effort is being made to achieve the same.
