Douglas Blyde is the drinks writer for The London Standard, and restaurant writer for Drinks Business. He curates the Wine List Confidential guide for the latter, positioning him to liaise with sommeliers at premier venues across the UK. He also contributes to Brummell.
As a seasoned consultant, Douglas advises private clients on their collections, including a media mogul and a leading markets firm. Douglas takes pride, too, in helping emerging drinks brands reach discerning audiences and is a regular host of related events.
One of his proudest moments was being immortalised as a cocktail - the ‘Jekyll & Blyde’ - served at Fortnum & Mason at 45 Park Lane, and later at 181 in Hong Kong.
Douglas’s taste journey has led to memorable experiences, from enjoying freshly landed grouse in the Highlands on the Glorious Twelfth of August, with malt in hand, to excursions meeting drinks producers in Lebanon, Thailand, and China.
