Daniele Arcangeli

Head Sommelier and Wine Buyer at Ekstedt at the Yard

Daniele Arcangeli is an award-winning Italian sommelier, wine buyer, and beverage director with more than twenty years of international experience in Michelin-starred restaurants and luxury hospitality across Europe and the United Kingdom. Currently Head Sommelier and Wine Buyer at Ekstedt at The Yardin London, he leads the restaurant’s wine program, curating the cellar and developing pairings designed to complement the restaurant’s distinctive wood-fired Nordic cuisine.

Arcangeli’s career has been largely shaped within Michelin-starred environments, where he has developed a reputation for combining deep technical knowledge of wine with refined service and strategic beverage leadership. Throughout his career he has curated extensive wine lists, designed tasting menu pairings, and led beverage teams in some of Europe’s most respected gastronomic institutions.

His professional journey includes senior roles at renowned establishments such as The River Restaurant by Gordon Ramsay at The Savoy, Angler (1 Michelin Star) at South Place Hotel in London, and the prestigious 67 Pall Mall Private Members’ Club, home to one of the world’s most extensive wine programs. Earlier in his career he worked at The Fat Duck (3 Michelin Stars) in Bray, contributing to the delivery of highly personalised wine pairings for one of the most influential tasting menus in modern gastronomy.

Arcangeli has also held key sommelier positions in Michelin-starred restaurants across Europe, including Pierre Gagnaire (2 Michelin Stars) at Les Airelles  in Courchevel, Ca d'oro (1 Michelin star) at the Kempiski  in St. Moritz, Il Piccolo Principe (2 Michelin Stars) at Principe di Piemonte  in Viareggio, and Meo Modo (1 Michelin Star) at Borgo Santo Pietro in Tuscany. These experiences helped shape his philosophy of wine service, rooted in precision, hospitality, and a deep respect for producers and terroir.

Internationally recognised within the wine community, Daniele Arcangeli won ASPI Best Sommelier of Italy in 2015,  Best Sommelier of Tuscany in 2012, and represented Italy at the ASI Best Sommelier of the World Competition. He holds the ASI Diploma Gold, one of the most prestigious certifications in the global sommelier profession. He has also been consistently recognised among the leading sommeliers working in the United Kingdom, including a Top 25 ranking by Harpers Wine & Spirits and multiple appearances in the Sommelier Edit Top 100 UK Sommeliers.

Committed to continuous professional development, he holds certifications from the Court of Master Sommeliers, Sommelier certification from Associazione Italiana Sommelier, and the Wine & Spirit Education Trust, where he is currently completing the WSET Diploma in Wines.

Beyond restaurant operations, Arcangeli contributes actively to the international wine community as a wine judge and educator, regularly participating in major competitions such as the Decanter World Wine Awards, London Wine Competition, the Sommelier Wine Awards and Sommelier Edit.

Through his work in hospitality, education, and consulting, Daniele Arcangeli continues to promote excellence in wine service while connecting guests, producers, and terroirs through knowledge, storytelling, and a profound passion for wine.
