Matteo Furlan comes from a renowned Hotelier family in northern Italy, on the outskirts of Venice.
He is been involved in hospitality since his childhood and has developed a passion for wine since the legal age of drinking.
After graduating in Tourism and Catering management in Italy, he decided to travel to Europe to gain experience and knowledge from some of the best 5-star establishments around the World.
He arrived in the UK in 2015, after completing sommelier courses in Italy, he decided to undergo the WSET path here in London.
First Level 3 and last year he graduated as a Diploma student.
He also holds Court of Master Sommelier Certified, Cava sommelier, and is a Maitre Sabreur for the Confrerie du Sabredor.
He's currently Head Sommelier for the prestigious Ritz Hotel in Mayfair London and manages a team of 7 with more than 1200 references on his wine list.
He's a judge and taster for many competition as LWC, IWC, IWSC, SWA, and others.
He loves to travel around the World, visit vineyards, and meet producers in front of a good glass of wine!
